The Vihiga County Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigate corruption allegations on misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) misuse.
The Woman rep made the call while expressing concern that misuse of the funds will result in non-delivery of services to citizens defeating the purpose for which the taxpayers money was intended.
“We can’t realise development in this country if funds allocated to serve mwananchi are misused,” she said.
The concerns arose out of the many audit claims emerging that a number of National Government -CDF offices cannot account for their expenditures. The lawmaker called on the investigative agencies DCI and EACC to exercise their mandates and conduct investigations over those allegations.
She said NG-CDF had been allocated a colossal Kshs.100 million, an amount that could improve the lives of residents within the constituency if used prudently.
The release of financial audits of many institutions, including the National and County Governments by the incumbent Auditor General has lifted the lid on queries concerning the use and alleged misuse of funds meant for development and welfare of citizens. The anti-anti-graft agencies are investigating a number of these cases while some have already been taken before anti-corruption courts for prosecution.
