The County Government of Nyandarua and the County Assembly has come under the radar of the anti’-graft agency Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of procurement irregularities involving possible loss of Kshs. 600million.
The anti-graft body is investigating 28 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and two officers said to be behind the misappropriation of the funds.
The elected MCAs are alleged to have received Kshs. 240,000 each for office refurbishment, while the nominated MCAs received Kshs.120,000each. The monies are said to have been paid directly into their individual accounts contrary to procurement laws. Also under investigations are two members of the Executive being investigated over possible loss of Kshs.500million.
The allegations continue to bring into focus that many of the corruption allegations involve issues of expenditure of public funds during procurement processes.
