The former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko was whisked today to Kiambu Law Courts under a heavy contingent of security officers. He was accused of twelve charges including; robbery with violence, assault, and forcible entry to private property all of which he committed in 2019
After spending a night in custody at the DCI headquarters, where he had gone to record a statement. Sonko had gone to record a statement regarding allegations he made against Interior PS Kibicho linking him to 2017 post-election violence.
The former governor denied all the charges that were leveled against him by the state. Sonko is facing other charges related to corruption, suspected money laundering, gross misconduct, and abuse of office during his tenure as Nairobi governor.
